      IEU 110  Academic and Social Orientation

      The course will help students recognize the skills necessary for university life and personal development. These skills include self-awareness, goal setting, time management, effective communication, mindfulness, and analytical thinking. The course will also raise students' awareness of the habits essential for physical, mental, and spiritual health, as well as issues such as addiction and bullying.


      DT 191  Basic Concepts of Foreign Trade

      This course covers the concept of foreign trade, the importance, objectives, theories, and policies of foreign trade, as well as the operational procedures and practices in foreign trade processes, based on theoretical foundations and presented through interactive and practical examples.


      MEKO 101  Microeconomics

      The student will be able to express the basic concepts of economics, apply economic analysis methods and analyze the features of economic systems.


      ING 101  English I

      This is a compulsory English course which provides basic language skills such as reading, writing, listening and speaking at the beginning level.


      TRK 100  Turkish

      Students will be taught how to use the written and verbal communication tools accurately and efficiently in this course. Various types of verbal and written statements will be examined through a critical point of view by doing exercises on understanding, telling, reading, and writing. Punctuation and spelling rules, which are basis of written statement, will be taught and accurate usage of these rules for efficient and strong expression will be provided. As for verbal statement, students will be taught how to use the body language, use accent and intonation elaborately, and use presentation techniques.


      MISL 101  Business Administration I

      This course aims to provide students the basic concepts, terminology and functions of businesses within the framework of developing world order and global economy.


      MUH 190  Financial Accounting I

      The student will be able to explain the basic concepts of accounting, perform the necessary accounting records by applying accounting procedures and principles, create accounting ledgers, and prepare the year-end balance sheet.


      ING 102  English II

      This is a compulsory English course which provides basic language skills such as reading, writing, listening and speaking at the beginning level.


      DT 102  Documents of Foreign Trade, Payment Types and Incoterms

      Student will be identify the major documents used in foreign trade transactions, and will be able to analyze the real life practices.


      DT 130  Foreign Trade Legislations

      Students will be able to explain the laws, bylaws, regulations on the import, export, customs and foreign exchange transactions under the framework of foreign trade legislation, and they will be able to use related legislation in their export and import operations.


      MYST 104  Summer Training (4 weeks)

      Internship, covers field experience at any work place. Students should follow the instructions stated in IUE Internship Guide in order to successfully complete their internships.


      TRH 100  Principles of Atatürk and History of Revolution

      This course provides a general information of the events from the end of the 19. century until the end of the Turkish War of Independence and the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923 and the following period until 1990’s.


      MEKO 102  Macroeconomics

      This course includes the explanation of macroeconomic terms, and the analysis of general economic conjuncture in unemployment and national income headings.


      DT 201  Customs Procedures

      This course aims to teach the role and importance of customs in international trade, customs legislation and procedures.


      DT 291  E-commerce Practices

      The constantly evolving digital world presents significant opportunities in terms of trade volume. This course aims to equip students with knowledge about this potential in the field of e-commerce and provide them with practical insights. Throughout the course, students will gain an understanding of the role and importance of e-commerce in the business world, while also developing skills in managing digital commerce processes and formulating strategies.


      DT 205  Promotion of Foreign Trade

      This course focuses on the development and implementation of effective promotional strategies in international trade. It covers the use of digital marketing tools, strategies for different cultural markets, and the management of promotional activities on an international scale. Students create successful campaigns by utilizing both digital and traditional promotional tools tailored to the cultural characteristics of the target market. Additionally, the course equips students with the skills to engage in strategic planning on digital marketing platforms and social media channels, develop customized solutions based on cultural differences, and analyze the impact of these activities.


      DT 293  Logistics Management

      Student will learn about logistics and retailing management,including subjects as supply chain, outsourcing, pricing, product diversification and other marketing strategies.


      DT 202  Key Elements of Planning Exports

      This course provides a basic concepts for planning in import operations and the fundamental steps in import operations including market research, logistics, patterns of payment and customes.


      DT 204  Foreign Trade Marketing Research

      Marketing Research in Foreign Trade is a course that equips students with the skills needed to meet the current demands of the industry. Marketing research is preferred to establish the scientific foundation for decisions made regarding goods and services offered in international trade. Frequently used in export and import processes, marketing research provides students with practical competence in managing qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods. In this course, students will mainly conduct practical training in a computer lab, where they will carry out their own marketing research projects.


      DT 292  Foreign Trade Financing and Incentives

      The course aims to educate students on the financing methods of international trade and the government incentives provided to support this trade. Within this course, students become acquainted with and examine the financing techniques used in foreign trade transactions. Detailed discussions cover tax advantages, subsidies, and other support mechanisms offered by the government to promote international trade.


      MYST 204  Summer Training (4 weeks)

      Internship, covers field experience at any work place. Students should follow the instructions stated in IUE Internship Guide in order to successfully complete their internships.


      Elective Courses


      BNK 296  Career Development

      This course includes theoretical and practical training required for students to be successful both in university life and after graduation. This course provides guidance to students in discovering their own talents, setting goals, and developing strategies to achieve these goals. Additionally, it is aimed to support students' future academic and professional success by helping them make informed decisions.


      DT 110  Foreign Trade Software

      In this course, students are expected to learn export integration program, order tracking and loading tracking of export, preparing export documents and document application of customs.


      DT 120  Marketing Techniques of Foreign Trade

      Theoretical and practical background in international marketing, global marketing environment, management and strategy will be examined.


      DT 203  Exports of Agricultural Products

      Marketing of agricultural products is taught as a special discipline both because of the characteristics of agricultural products and because they create a large market potential.


      DT 208  Foreign Trade and Service Sector

      Student will learn about the definitions, scope, characteristics, classifications, agreements (GATS), comparisons and evaluations related to the foreign trade and International trade of services.


      DT 209  Professional Development Activities I

      Through this course, students will gain an understanding of the global aspects of international trade, with a focus on Turkey and İzmir. They will regularly and effectively follow sectoral events and develop their own communication networks.


      DT 212  Professional Development Activities II

      A review of the usual areas related to the profession and make fieldwork to create awareness of the opportunities arising due to developments and change.


      DT 214  International Business Environments

      This lesson is a member of the Council of Europe, World Trade Organization, European Security and Cooperation Organization, World Chamber of Commerce, Trade Agreements and other International Organizations (G-8, IMF, OSCE, EU, OECD etc.) through national and international key institutions regulating international trade. ) global and regional trade relations.


      DT 215  International Sales and Bargains

      Rules of global personal sales and international sales management. The concepts like globalism, mutual cultural communications, the definition and estimation of global markets etc.


      DT 216  Standardization for Foreign Trade

      Students will be given the competance related to standardization.


      DT 217  International Marketing

      How companies will use marketing to select markets and how will they enter the markets will be taught.


      DT 290  Digital Marketing

      The digital marketing course teaches strategies for managing brands' communication, sales, and image processes using the internet and digital technologies. This course covers topics such as advertising on digital platforms, public relations, e-commerce, social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), content marketing, and email marketing. Students are taught, through practical applications, the skills to create, implement, and analyze digital marketing strategies.


      ING 297  English for International Trade

      This course aims to teach terminology related to international trade, to improve reading and listening comprehension of relevant communication and enable students to produce basic written and oral communication for international trade transactions.


      MISL 102  Business Administration II

      Business Administration II is a basic course that gives students the changing concepts of businesses, their functions in the developing world and the world economy. It is the continuation of Business Administration I and aims to teach the students the current changes in business functions.


      MPAZ 190  Presentation Techniques

      In this course, all theoretical and practical aspects of effective presentation techniques are taught with a focus on application. The course covers the written, verbal, and non-verbal elements of communication, the necessary stages for preparing an effective presentation, and the potential issues that may arise during a presentation along with their solutions.


      MTOI 225  Entrepreneurship

      Providing theoretical information on entepreneurship and formulating a business plan, analyzing successful business models, preparing and presenting business models.


      MTOI 230  Consumer Behavior

      The role of consumer behavior in marketing; consumer psychology, neuroscience, anthropology and sociology; consumer buying behavior and digital consumption and markets will be the main topics of the course.


      RTV 190  Basic Knowledge of Communication

      This course consists of content derived from fields related to communication, such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, and linguistics, as well as sector-based case analyses.


      RTV 240  Corporate Communication

      Basic concepts of corporate communication, corporate communication activities performed for different purposes and for different stakeholders and basic principles to be considered in these activities are discussed.
